Digital 3D Reconstructions of Works of Art

The three-dimensional digitization of fragments of an ancient monument gives us the opportunity to gradually restore the monument in a computer environment.

Our company has considerable know how  and the required technology to digitally reconstruct ancient or folk art monuments and artefacts, found in many physical fragments.  If the number of fragments is small (e.g.few decades), our approach tackles the problem by precisely digitizing in 3D each fragment and then via digital sculpting technology,  we can move, orient and finally place the scanned fragment piece into its correct 3D position. At the end of this process a coherent digital object is formed.  The missing material from each fragment, once is placed into the correct position, can be added digitally, in a precise manner, using visual and digital solid intersection checks with the adjacent fragments.

If the fragments of a monument are in hundreds or thousands, then the problem can only be tackled via a research project because the reconstruction process requires a wealth of scientific and archaeological data, which only a multidiscipline team can attempt to gather and correlate. Such research activity is of great importance for the preservation of our cultural heritage. FTS can participate and provide substantial contribution to such research projects.
